World AIDS Day
Established on 1st December 1988 by the World health Organisation, World AIDS Day is about increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World AIDS Day is on December 1st EVERY YEAR and is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away and that there are many things still to be done.
It provides governments, national HIV/AIDS programmes, faith organisations, community organisations, and individuals with an opportunity to raise awareness and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic.
On and around World AIDS Day people wear the red ribbon as the internationally familiar symbol of HIV and AIDS awareness. HIVsport is committed to use the symbol to ensure that levels of awareness are improved through sport, especially among younger people.
It provides governments, national HIV/AIDS programmes, faith organisations, community organisations, and individuals with an opportunity to raise awareness and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic.
